Davina McCall - High Energy Five [2007]
February 4, 2008
This is the latest of Davina McCall’s exercise DVD. It is called High Energy Five and is based around burning off fat and losing weight. The DVD is split into five intensive sections each approximately 20 minutes long. It is recommended to do at least two sections back to back three times a week. You can also do the easier or more advanced options if you wish. The five sections are Warm Up, Aerobics, Legs, Pump, Abdominal, Boxing and Cool Down.
The great thing about this DVD is you can pick and choose which parts you want to do and therefore vary the exercises you are doing. Meaning you will not get bored doing the same exercises over and over again. The DVD is very easy to follow and to keep you going there is a very good music accompanying this DVD. Davina, herself puts a lot of energy into this DVD and at times she is clearly tired which just goes to show just how real this DVD is. A really worth while purchase and one sure to get you in shape.
Natalie Cassidy’s Then And Now Workout
February 3, 2008
We have all seen the dramatic weight loss from frumpy Sonia to a very lean and new look Natalie Cassidy. As with most of the celebrity weight loss diet the inevitable DVD follows. So just how good is this DVD? Here are my thoughts and comments on one of the best selling DVD’s on our shelves at the moment.
I can honestly say what a big surprise this DVD was for me. I was expecting to get bored half way through, not at all. This DVD kept me thinking all the way through, making it very challenging. My muscles really felt like they had been worked out completely, thankfully they did not ache too much as the warming up and down exercises are very good. The only bad comment I would have about this DVD is the fact that sometimes I did struggle to keep up with the instructions. This did not last long as a week on I had overcome this problem. My mistake initially was not sitting down and watching it through first, If I had done this I doubt I would have struggled so much.
This DVD is great fun and very challenging. If you have the drive and determination to keep this exercise DVD up you will lose the weight you require and tone up along the way. I would definitely recommend this DVD, as it won’t be one that just sits on the shelf collecting dust.
Get in shape with Natalie today and get the figure you’ve always wanted.
Home-Made Carrot and Coriander Soup
February 3, 2008
Ingredients
Serves 4
50g/2oz/4tbsp butter
2 sliced leeks
450g/1lb sliced carrots
15ml/1 tbsp ground coriander
1.2 litres/2 pints/5 cups chicken stock (vegetarian option use vegetable stock)
150ml/1/4 pint/ 2/3 cup of low fat Greek-style yoghurt
salt and ground black pepper
To garnish
30-45ml/2-3 tbsp of chopped fresh coriander
Method
Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Add the sliced leeks and carrots and stir well, coating the vegetables with the butter. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and cook for about 10 minutes, until the vegetables are beginning to soften but not colour.
Stir in the ground coriander and cook for about 1 minute. Pour in the stock and season to taste with salt and pepper. Bring to the boil, cover and simmer for about 20 minutes, until the leeks and carrots are tender.
Leave to cool slightly, then puree the soup in a blender until smooth. Return the soup to the pan and add about 30ml/2 tbsp of the yoghurt, then taste the soup an adjust the seasoning again to taste. Reheat gently but do not boil.
Ladle the soup into bowls and put a spoonful of the remaining yoghurt in the centre of each. Scatter over the coriander to finish.
This dish comes in at approximately 140 calories per serving, 1g fat. To make this dish even lighter substitute olive oil for the butter.
