Christmas and New Year can be a time when you hear your bodies groan. Too much rich food, constant snacking and drinking all add up to those extra pounds been put on. January 1st comes round and we all take one look at ourselves and think right time to lose some weight, yet again!
It doesn’t have to be like that, you can cruise into the new year weighing just what you did before all the festivities started. It won’t mean you not eating or drinking either.
Here are our top tips to help you keep in shape over the holiday season:
1. Plan: You do meal plans week by week, so don’t stop them over Christmas and New Year. By writing down what you are eating a drinking will mean you are more likely to stick to it rather than grab any snack going.
2. Exercise: Don’t stop exercising! You don’t need to go mad, but keep some sort of exercise up, whether it is walking to the shops instead of driving or running up the stairs, keep it up. Most people put weight on over the holiday period because they stop exercising not because they have eaten too much!
3. Tell People: If you have a real weakness for something, for example chocolate. Then ask friends and family not to get that as a present. If you are not brought them then you aren’t going to be eating them. If it is you buying them you can control the amount of chocolate you have in the house.
4. Alcohol: For most of us having a drink over the holidays is part of the fun, and why not? To make sure you do not cosume thousands of calories try to stick to the lower calories drinks.
5. Enjoy Yourself: You are still able to have fun. Gorging on loads of food and snacks will only leave you feeling horrible and a lot heavier going into the New Year. By implementing these few tiny changes you will have fun and not pile on the weight.

Now hear me out here, you may be thinking what on earth is she going on about. Mamma Mia is a film so, how one earth can I exercise and at the same time have fun?
Easy and here is how:
For any of you out there who have been to see this hugely popular film then you have spent an hour and half of pure fun. Even singing along to the songs as the words go across the screen. Now you have the opportunity to watch and enjoy this film at home.
So my top tip when you get this film is:
If you are on your own, put it on when you are doing the housework and dance your way round the house. You’ll get the housework done enjoy yourself singing along and lose a few more calories while you are at it.
If there is a group of you, set a date and invite your mates round and have a mamma mia party. If you are on a diet put out healthier snacks and drinks. Get that microphone or hairbrush ready and dance the night away. Just see how many calories you burn off. And to top it off you have fun and are exercising without knowing it!
Of course you can just sit down and watch this film if you want to, but this tip just goes to show you can exercise and have fun!

How To Quit Smoking And Not Put On Weight

Quitting smoking is not the easiest at the best of times. Many people are undoubtedly put off from quitting smoking as they fear they will put on weight and lots of it too. Here are a few simple tips that will help you to quit smoking and also lose weight.
1. By using a smaller plate you will be eating smaller portions. Yet your eyes will still be seeing those bigger portions telling your brain you are eating the same as before.
2. To prevent yourself from snacking, eat 5-6 small meals a day.
3. Try and walk for at least 30 minutes a day. It is not as difficult as it sounds, for example either walk the kids to school or park 15 minutes away from the shops.
4. Still have treats but save them for nights out, this makes them something to look forward to.

How Can I Drink All That Water?

It is quite a common thing to be told,”you need to drink more water”. How many times have you heard or said yourself,”I don’t like drinking water”?
If you are taking a weight loss supplement then you can guarantee part of the instructions when taking them are to drink at least a couple of litres of water a day. Something that probably puts you off taking the weight loss supplement in the first place.
There are ways you can make water taste better and make it more drinkable.
1. Use a water filter, this will get rid of some of the unpleasant tastes.
2. Keep water in the fridge. Cold water is much better tasting than warm
3. Add lots of ice into the water with a slice of your favourite fruit for example, Lemon, Orange, Lime.

My top exercising tip whether you are on a diet, wishing to tone up or just fancy exercising a bit more is to get on your bike. Apart from the initial cost of your bike and helmet you are not going to incur any other major costs. All you have to do is get on your bike and ride. Even just an hour on your bike will get those muscles toned.
If you want to have a set amount of time to ride then use the alarm on your mobile phone. Set if for 15 minutes and when the alarm goes off turn yourself round and come home. Half an hour exercise done easy!
Riding is great fun, cheap and something you can all do as a family. School holidays can be expensive and a struggle to keep the children amused. With a bike you can pack a small packed lunch and go off for the day without it costing a fortune.
