Now you may think that exercise has to play a big part in not getting overweight and it does play a part but not as much as what you eat. Your diet amounts to 80% of the battle and exercise only 20%. The majority of people that are overweight do exercise but what they are consuming prevents them from having a healthy weight and from being fit.
This may seem an obvious statement but the food you consume will make you either lose weigt or put on weight. We are always being told that we must eat 3 balanced meals a day, our breakfast, lunch and dinner. However eating 3 large meals a day is not the answer. You are able to burn more calories and have a much better metabolism by eating 5 smaller meals a day.
You may not believe this but eating smaller meals and the right food will in turn mean you are able to eat more yet still lose weight. Our bodies are complex but once you understand this you will be able to make your body work for a speedy and sustainable weight loss!
How To Keep Exercising In The Summer

You have got yourself back into shape so you can look your best on the beach in your bikini. Now what do you do? Do not do what many of us do and that is completely stop exercising. Why let all that hardwork go to waste? Wouldn’t it be so much better to get to the end of the summer and still be looking and feeling good?
Yes I know that the weather gets hotter but that is no excuse to stop exercising. You should still be able to fit in some sort of exercise at least 30 minutes 4 times a week.
When the heat and humidity is hotter it can make exercising more difficult but not impossible.
You will find that air quality will be a factor when exercising in heat. When there is high heat and humid conditions perspiration will not evaporate efficiently and therefore it is harder to regulate your body temperature. When this happens you may well need to shorten your workout.
Here are some Top Tips that will ensure you are able to Exercise Safely in the Summer:
•Whenever you exercise you must make sure you hydrate yourself properly. During summer it is even more important that you make sure you do this.
•Common sense will tell you not to exercise when the sun is at its strongest. The best times to exercise during the summer months are before 10am and after 7pm
• Wearing lighter colored clothes will reflect the heat much better than darker colors. If you are exercising outside make sure you wear a sunhat and sunglasses
•You are going to be a lot more comfortable exercising in a air conditioned gym rather than outside. However that does not mean for you to just stay in. Just remember to go out when it is cooler.
•If you do exercise out in the summer heat then make sure you are wearing sunscreen. Just because you are moving does not mean you will not get sunburn
•To avoid any skin irritation shower and change your clothes straight after you have finished warming down from your exercising.
•If you are worried about exercising in the heat of the summer then consult your doctor.

How Can I Stay In Shape This Summer?

Oh yes ladies and gentlemen that season we love and hate is just around the corner. Summer will have half of us looking forward to the heat and sun. The other half dreading it as we just know, as we have just finished loosing the weight from last summer, that in a couple of months all the weight will be back on and maybe even more this time round!
So what can we do this year to make this summer our best looking and feeling yet? We could take a weight loss supplement such as Proactol or Hydroxycut which would help reduce or fat intake meaning we are less likely to put on any weight at all. This is not an option I would rule out as I have gone down the Proactol route and don’t regret it for a single second.

How To Increase Your Metabolism After A Heavy Christmas Period

Our poor bodies, over the Christmas and New Year period we subject our bodies to more food and drink that normal. We also tend to exercise less, as lets face it we are too busy enjoying ourselves to be bothered with that. January comes and we feel overweight and tired, our metabolism has slowed down and we need to lose weight. Slow metabolism is not going to help us lose that excess weight.
Here are some tips that will speed up your metabolism and help you lose the weight you want.
1. One of the quickest ways to slow down your metabolism is to starve yourself. When looking to lose weight eat regularly leaving no longer than 5 hour gaps between meals.
2. Eat smaller meals at regular intervals. If you can prepare food in advance and take it with you. Make a meal plan and do not skip meals as this makes you more prone to eat junk food or snack later on in the evening.
3. You will have heard this before but it really is true. You must eat breakfast, by waiting until mid morning or later to eat, your metabolism will start to run slower.
4. A great way to increase your metabolism is to eat smaller meals throughout the day. BY eating 4 – 6 smaller meals every 2 to 3 hours will help speed it up.
5. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine. Park your car further away from the place you want to get to and walk the rest of the way. By incorporating a walking routine of 30 minutes, 3 to four times a week you are guaranteed to increase your metabolism and lose weight.

How To Keep Yourself In Shape Over The Christmas Holidays

Did you know that the average person can gain between 5 to 8 pounds over the festive period. Most of us put the fact we have put on weight to overindulging. Too much food and drink seems to us to be the obvious answer. Of course excessive eating and drinking will not help you maintain you weight, but the real reason we put on so much over this time is because of the lack of physical activity and exercise.
Why do we stop exercising over this festive period? Many of us will say we just don’t have the time. Others will be having too much fun going to parties to give exercise a second thought, for others it is simply they cannot be bothered and want the time off.
However, you are able to make time to exercise over the holiday season and still have a great time, with the added bonus of not having to go on another New Year Diet!
Here are some top tips that will help you beat the bulge and stay in shape this festive season.
1. If you having a meal out plan what you are eating if you can. If you are out for drinks then eat before you go out, your are less likely to overindulge when you are out.
2. Having the occasional treats will not hurt. If you put them into your meal plan then you will be able to manage them much better.
3. Don’t be fooled into thinking that if you skip a meal that you are able to have more treats. This won’t work it will only end up being counterproductive.
4. It’s the holidays so you are more likely to want to drink. Be careful though alcohol means calories and in the case of some drinks lots. Try to avoid mixed and fruity drinks and especially Egg Nog as this comes in at 350 calories per serving!
5. Don’t forget to exercise. This doesn’t have to mean going to the gym. Walk to places rather than drive. Running up stairs instead of plodding.
6. Make your exercise routine and goals realistic. 30 minutes a day will keep you going over the holidays rather than the normal hour. Don’t be put off by the weather. Investing in the Wii and Wii Fit may be the wisest choice you ever make, because it is an easy and fun way to exercise for all the family.
9. Being on a diet over the holidays is not a good idea. Eating foods you like in smaller portions will do you no harm. Keeping your meal planner going and up to date will also help.
10. Make sure you drink plenty of water. Not only will this combat the dehydrating affects of alcoholic beverages, but it will also help to curb your appetite. Did you know thirst is often mistaken for hunger.
11. Finally, don’t be tempted to eat a three course meal all at once try spreading them out a bit. After a rich main meal go for a walk, this could be on your own or with your family. Work up an appetite for that desert.
