The Difference Between IBS and IBD

September 12, 2008

There is confusion over these two gastrointestinal disorders, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Although IBS does have some similar symptoms to IBD they are not the same condition and making sure you have an accurate diagnosis is key to being able to manage your condition.

With IBS you will suffer from some type of disturbance in your bowel function. Whether it is diarrhea, constipation or alternating bouts of both.

IBS can and does cause a lot of discomfort and distress. However it is not as severe a condition as IBD. Suffering from IBD can mean permanent harm to the intestines or intestinal bleeding. Also IBD’s can mean hospitalization or medication.

If you are a sufferer of IBS or IBD’s then you will no doubt be looking for some relief from IBS or IBD. Helping to ease digestive disorders is Aloeride and you are able to read more information on Aloeride here
