The Effect Of Cold Weather On Your Skin

Wintertime is not a good time for your skin. The cold weather, the increased wind and central heating going on in your house causing a dry atmosphere is all things your skin could do without. All these factors decrease the moisture from your skin and can cause the inevitable dry, flaky peeling skin add on top of this acne and you are in for a few months of increased discomfort.
Keeping your skin hydrated during these colder periods is key. So how do you do this?
1. Take a look at your cleanser. Just because it has worked for you during the summer months does not necessarily mean that it will be as effective during the colder periods. If you find that your skin is feeling tighter and dryer after you have cleansed you may need to look at switching to a milder cleanser.
2. Whether you have normal skin or skin that is prone to acne moisturizing is still a vital part of your skin care routine. If you are looking to avoid dry flaky skin then moisturizing is a must. Now you are moisturizing from the outside, don’t forget the inside. Just because it is not as warm outside does not mean you should consume less water. Makes sure you keep your skin hydrated from the inside too.
3. If you are finding that your skin is particularly dry during the winter periods and you are using an acne treatment, try using it every other day to reduce the dryness. If your acne medication is prescribed by a doctor make sure you check first though.
