Is coffee bad for you?

It would come as no surprise to you, that millions and millions of cups of coffee are drank world wide every day. For many of us the day really cannot start until we have drank our first cup of coffee in the morning. In a city you rarely have to walk very far to find a coffee shop. A good coffee can be very sexy, with it’s rich and full bodied flavour and smell I would say only chocolate can compare to it. We all know that coffee because of its caffeine content can cause us to become addicted. That said, it does not stop the majority of us partaking in many cups every day.

Coffee drank in moderation, a cup or two during the day isn’t going to kill you. The problem is that some people are drinking none stop cups of coffee during the day. I have met many people who do this and you can see that it is not doing them any good. Some of the side effects I have seen are constant headaches and bad skin. Some people are literally drinking coffee from the moment they get up to the time they go to sleep.

The effects of drinking too much coffee:
Just have a look at your teeth in the mirror, after all the many cups of coffee. Are they still white? As with the smoker who gets those yellow fingers , too many cups of coffee and your teeth will have a nice stained look to them. Of course you will find in many chemists and supermarkets toothpaste and other products that will claim to whiten your teeth. Wouldn’t it just be easier to cut back and drink less coffee?

Many of us drink coffee as it keeps up going at work when the stress levels are high.
This seems to be a vicious circle. If you are busy at work at home, then what do you do? For the majority of us we will reach for the coffee cup to make us feel better. It may solve the problem for a while but then you come back down. What happens? You grab another cup to get you back up. By doing this you will not be helping your stress and anxiety levels at all only adding to them.

Just think of your poor old stomach when you are drinking all this coffee. The lining of your stomach can be irritated. If you are drinking too much then I put money on it that you won’t be eating properly.

It’s not all bad, some of the benefits of coffee are:
Many countries around the world, do indeed start or finish a meal with a cup of coffee. Not many people will disagree that a cup of coffee at the end of a meal is the icing on the cake. For many people a cup of coffee is a chance to meet and socialise with other people.

Unfortunately as with all things in life, to be healthy you need to do things in moderation. So keep an eye on your intake of coffee and if you are over doing it cut back or even swap a few cups for the decaf option.
