Fighting Acne During The Cold Weather
You don’t need me to tell you that Acne is an all year round condition. However, as the nights close in and the temperature drops even further you will notice how this takes a toll on your skin even more than normal. Seasonal temperature changes, changes in humidity and changes in your diet to comfort yourself over these winter periods can all trigger off acne and skin rashes. Fighting to keep your skin in tip top condition can be very difficult as the indoor air becomes dryer due to central heating. Leaving your skin flaking and blotchy which can intern leave you feeling very low and very conscious of your appearance.
To help you look after your skin and keep acne at bay here are a few tips to get you through the winter months acne free.
1. Take a look at your cleanser. If your skin is feeling a little tight after cleansing then you may need a milder cleanser. Some cleanses contain salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide which can cause the skin to dry. Once the weather warms back up again you can revert back to your old cleanser.
2. Some of the worse triggers of acne are fried foods, oils, salty snacks and pasteurised dairy products. So especially in winter months, try and avoid these foods.
3. By eating fresh healthy, unprocessed foods you are more likely to have healthier skin.
4. One of the best ways to repair your skin is to have a good restful nights sleep. Your skin and body will feel much better for it.
5. Rubbing your acne when washing and trying is a complete no – no. This can and does cause infection that will lead to your acne spreading. When you wash yourself pat your skin dry.
6. This tip is a little more difficult. If you wear make-up, try not to over apply during the winter months. Too much make-up is not healthy for your skin and could lead to more severe outbreaks of acne.
7. Don’t think that when you wash that you have to use soap. Washing with just cold water will keep your skin clean and healthy.
8. If you know that you are likely to get acne during the colder months, then be prepared and prevent it from happening in the first place. There are products available such as Acnezine and Healthy pores that are complete skin care systems designed to do just that.
9. Shampooing your hair on a daily basis, brushing and keeping your hair off your face will also help to keep your skin acne free.
You are able to get your skin in much better condition over these cold periods. Just give these few simple tips a try and see the results.
