Cutting Down On Your Fat Intake
We are all looking for that quick fix to lose weight. In reality it really isn’t as hard as what you may think. How many times do we stand next to someone ordering a double cheeseburger and large fries then washing it down with a large glass of coke, then munch on a bag of sweets? It doesn’t take much common sense to see that all that is needed, is to cut down on the portion and change the drink to water or juice.
During the day we are bound to need a drink and what do we turn to? For the majority of us it is usually a can of pop – Why is this? Well, because for one they taste nice and they are very easy to get hold of. Carbonated drinks are not the best drink to have during the day. For one it is a waste of calories, apart from the caffeine fix you are not going to get much else from them. So, what should we do? Common sense again, instead of the fizzy drink all day have a juice drink, especially juice with pulp in. This will fill you up and help to curb your hunger, whilst keeping those bowels moving.
We all love a good sandwich. So do we really need to cut them out? The answer is no, here are some tips for a healthier sandwich. Try and avoid too much cheese. We put cheese on anything. Too much cheese is not going to help keep your heart healthy. A way to cut down on your cheese intake is to grate your cheese you can cover the same amount of area using less cheese. Try not to eat white bread, eat wheat bread. This is because whole wheat products have been shown to stabilize blood sugar which means you won’t get as hungry as fast. So an easy way to curb your hunger. Mayonnaise, which glides onto our bread like silk sheets on a bed. Again we eat far too much especially with those squeezy bottles, which make it all to easy to cover our food with mayo. We really need to be cutting mayonnaise out if we want to be at a healthy weight, so what do we use instead? Well on your sandwich, exchange the mayonnaise for a bit of Italian dressing. On your salads buy yourself a bottle of balsamic vinegar and drizzle this over your salads, a much healthier and lower fat option.
We are always been told to cut down on bread. I must admit that when I do eat bread I do notice just how bloated I feel. So personally cutting down on bread is not difficult. If you do like your bread then how do you cut down? If you are going out for a meal, push away the bread basket that is put on the table. Cutting down on carbohydrates is something we could all do with doing.
Try and avoid buying fatty cuts of meat and if you do buy a chop with fat on then cut it off. Don’t leave it, cut it off then you are not tempted. Yes fat does give meat more flavour – so do spices so cut that fat off and use the many spices now available. Eating a lot of dairy can also cause problems. Try and avoid the full fat ice-cream go for the light options. Flavours with a lot of fruit in are a good option or add your own fruit. You won’t miss the fat if you add some more flavour.
We should all be aware now that frying food is not the way to go, we have all seen the fat on the bottom of the grill pan, why would anyone want to cook their food in a pan? Just think of your heart.
Some simple tips and not too hard to implement, so give it a go. Don’t forget a bit of regular exercise will always go a long way to help you keep in shape.
