Yo-Yo Diets
We look at a diet as such an easy thing to take on. Yet as many of us are under the umbrella of a yo-yo dieter then we can confirm it is not at all easy. As our brain is telling us to eat fruit or hands are grapping into the cupboard for a bag of crisps or opening a box of our favourite chocolates. We are all looking for a diet or pills which help us to lose pounds quick and easy with the least amount of effort. However in most cases the weight returns all to quickly. Over a long period of time you aren’t going to be doing your health any good at all.
A yo-yo dieter is more than likely someone who doesn’t see their weight problem as long-term, more of a 1 week wonder that will fix everything in that time. If you are looking for that quick fix rather than dieting over a longer and more realistic period then you are going to struggle. Mother nature has a way of telling us not to rush, especially when our bodies just can’t do it. Many pills on the market will tell you that you will lose the weight in a matter of days, but this just isn’t true. If you really need to lose weight then it will be over a longer period of time.
The obvious and probably the best place to go for advise on dieting are dieticians and doctors, yet many people will avoid this option. Mainly because they will say that it will take time to lose the weight as it takes time for your body to gain weight. If you force yourself into a new weight loss is not healthy for your body and fast diets could cause damage to your internal organs and also decrease your muscle mass.
If you are a yo-yo dieter then you are more than likely aware that the weight returns all to easy, a few glasses of wine or a burger here and there is all it takes. A reasonable length of time for a diet is four weeks, this will allow your body to get rid of the accumulated fat and not water or muscle.
Short term solutions just aren’t the answer in the dieting world, the results just won’t last. That and long term your health will suffer. We need to accept that there is no magic solution. Getting together a healthy and sound eating plan, making sure you are regularly exercising will all help to make sure you keep at the weight that you want to be.
